Global Joint Education Center (GJEC) for Science and Technology will offer the following lecture in English.
※This lecture will be held by Zoom. Access information will be announced later on Moodle.

 

 

【Title】

Exercise of Technical English 1 「Technical English Through Media」

※For Master students who enrolled in 2018 or later, and doctoral students who enrolled in 2021, this lecture will be held as one of the subjects in English Education. Doctoral students, who enrolled in 2018-2020, cannot register this class, but can join the class as an audit student without the credit.
※For students who enrolled in 2017 or earlier, this lecture will be held as one of the subjects in Advanced General Education/Special program for Foreign Language.

【Abstract】
This course has two components:
1. Learners will watch and listen to interesting and engaging videos on a wide range of technical and scientific topics, including Biology, Medicine, Physics, Manufacturing science, and Statistics, among others. Videos utilized include popular subjects produced by the journal Nature, National Geographic, TED, etc. Learners will be guided through exercises to help them comprehend the main ideas, build vocabulary, and gain insights into natural English constructions.
2. We will closely examine the English presented in technical and scientific videos through transcripts, readings, exercises, partner activities, and group discussions. This will serve to strengthen grammar, listening, and production skills. Participation, critical thinking, and communication will be emphasized.
