Computer Science and Electrical Engineering

We aim to provide state-of-the-art education on specialized course, and to master the modeling of the problem to be solved and the problem solution, intended for students who have studied fundamentals on general engineering and specialized fundamentals in the field of electricity, electronics and computer at undergraduate school. Subjects of education and research in this department cover a wide area including information science, computer engineering, electronic communication engineering, human engineering, energy engineering etc. Thus, we hope for the entrance of students who have not only steady knowledge on fundamentals on the specialty, but also the ability to apply the knowledge on fundamental engineering in wide area to one’s own special area by flexible thought, and be inspired to find and solve new problems.

Educational Goals
Electrical, electronic and computer engineering are fundamental technologies which support modern information and computer society. Training of expert engineers and researchers who commit the development of technology is indispensable.
This department trains expert engineers and researchers who have creative and flexible thought as follows:

  1. 1)One who can cope with various and dynamic social needs flexibly and rapidly using highly professional skill and wide scope.
  2. 2)One who has creative ability to solve problems by innovating new technologies.
  3. 3)One who desires to lead information society and has a sense of mission to contribute to regional and international society.

In the near future we expect to use any information systems anytime and anywhere, that is, make them ubiquitous in our society. In order to realize it we have to introduce variability to both computer hardware and software, and build up flexible and adaptable information systems. In this course we have specialists in computer engineering such as computer architectures and hardware designs, those in big data science and technology such as algorithms and data mining, and those on communications and electromagnetic waves, organically cooperating in doing education and research on these technologies.

The field of electrical energy and electronic devices includes the most fundamental and key technologies to support our society and its infrastructures, for example, through the efficient utilization of electric energy, the development of renewable energy resources, the development of innovative materials and electronic devices, and so on. In this division, both research and education are performed on Electric Power Systems, Electric Energy Conversion, Industrial Applications of Power Electronics, Environment Oriented Devices and Systems, Superconducting Devices, ULSI Technology, and Nano-Structure Technology.

Development of Next-Generation Electric Wheelchair “STAVi” for Improving Quality of Life.

In the future society with the problems of fewer children, aging, and environment, it becomes vital to develop the technology of supporting system for man to lead a safe, comfortable social life. To achieve that, research that multilaterally merges man and the environment that surrounds it is necessary. In this field of research, a wide-ranging education and the academic activity are carried out on various elemental technologies that are related to man, environment, and information, especially on Human interface, Intellectual control, Bio-engineering, and Natural environmental evaluation, etc.
