【Abstract】

This course has two components:

  1. Learners will watch and listen to interesting and engaging videos on a wide range of technical and scientific topics, including Biology, Medicine, Physics, Materials science/chemistry, and Statistics. Videos utilized include popular subjects produced by the podcasts such as WIRED science,USAtoday, The New Yorker, TED talks. Learners will be guided through exercises to help them comprehend the main ideas, build vocabulary, and gain insights into natural English constructions.
  2. We will closely examine the English presented in technical and scientific videos through transcripts, readings, exercises, partner activities, and group discussions. This will serve to strengthen grammar, listening, and production skills. Participation, critical thinking, and communication will be emphasized.
