Notice of Course Opening: Understanding Contemporary Society B (Kumamoto-Mansfield Lecture Series)

We are pleased to announce the commencement of the Kumamoto-Mansfield Lecture Series on Contemporary Social Understanding B for the current academic year, starting from November 29, 2024.
The lectures will be held on Friday during the 3rd period, from 12:55 to 14:25.
The series will be conducted by fellows of the Mansfield Foundation, all of whom are affiliated with government-related agencies in the United States.
This unique opportunity allows you to directly access the latest information from the United States that is not usually available in everyday discourse.
Additionally, we are delighted to offer special lectures on select dates during the same time slot.Mr. Nobuo Yoneyama, former Director of the Washington Office of Mitsui & Co., now with Nisshin co., will speak on January 10, 2025; Mr. Takeshi Eguchi, Director of Intelligence Promotion at Suntory Holdings Ltd., will present on January 31; and Professor Konrad Young from National Taiwan University, former Director of TSMC’s R&D Center, will lecture on February 7.
Each speaker brings extensive international expertise, making these sessions an invaluable chance to gain unique insights not available in our regular courses.

To register for these lectures, please register the class at SOSEKI during the following period.
Registration Period: November 5(Tue)~November 26(Tue)
The lectures will be held in Room 1-A of Center for International Education Building (CIE) on the Kurokami North Campus.
Furthermore, it is possible to audit the lectures without earning credits. If you choose to audit only, please inform Professor Takashima (takashik@gpo.kumamoto-u.ac.jp) by email, and the materials will be sent to you.
