Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship 2022Special Allocation for Top Global University Project

To apply for this scholarship, please have interviews by your supervisor and submit the required documents to Academic Affairs Section of GSST by May 6th,Friday 17:00.

Qualifications of Applicants:

1. GSST full-time students as of April 1st, 2022

2. Age: born on or after April 2nd, 1987

3. Those who are recipients of any other scholarships are not eligible.

4. Nationality: must have a nationality from a country which has diplomatic relations with Japan.

5. GPA for the past year must be over 2.50.

6. Those who fulfill one of the following language proficiency requirements.

①Japanese: must have good Japanese communication skills equivalent to or more than N2 level of JLPT(Japanese-Language Proficiency Test).

②English: must have good English communication skills equivalent to or more than B2 level of CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

The applicants should have an official score of either TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS.

The minimum scores are 72 for TOEFL-iBT, 5.5 for IELTS, and 785 for TOEIC L&R.

Scholarship Benefits

Stipend: -\144,000/ month (master’s student)    -\145,000/ month (doctoral student)

Duration: From October 2022 to March 2023 .

  Tuition: Kumamoto University cover the tuition fee for October 2022 in principle.

Number of applicants to be selected for recommendation from KU:  1

  *MEXT will NOT cover the traveling expenses for coming and return to your country after completion of the course.

Required Documents(Hard copy)*submit to GSST office

1. Application form (form 6)  *Please attach your photo and sign.

2. Research Plan or Research Status (form 7)

3. Certificate of student registration of KU

4. Certificate of academic record which indicates your grades in the last one years.

If the applicant does not have a academic record, a letter of recommendation from the dean or graduate school dean level or above of the applicant’s home institution.

5. Proof of enrollment (must be submitted by all but newcomers to Japan)

6. Copy of passport for newcomers to Japan, copy of resident card for non-newcomers to Japan

7. A copy of certificate of language proficiency:English: TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, IELTS   Japanese: JLPT

* TOEFL-ITP, TOEIC-IP are not available.

Required Documents from supervisor

Please ask your supervisor to have interviews and to submit the following documents to GSST office directly.

1. Recommendation form (form 1) *email the softcopy to GSST office

2. Interview Result (form 3) *submit the hard copy to GSST office

*If you are selected as a recipient, you CANNOT apply for other MEXT scholarship programs.
