Biological Sciences

Education Goals

Through conducting laboratory analysis and field surveys of various levels, from the gene to the crowd level, we will train students to become professional who have a deep knowledge of the life sciences and advanced reasoning abilities and who can engage in society actively with a clear vision.

Education Objectives

  1. We will train students to become researchers who have the ability to independently identify various issues related to biological science, choose the appropriate method for solving these issues, have logical reasoning abilities, and work on their own to find a resolution.
  2. Through preparing doctorate dissertations and attending seminars, students will obtain high-level knowledge on the timeliest issues surrounding the life sciences and develop expert-level research abilities and logical reasoning abilities.
  3. Through encouraging students to proactively give presentations at international conferences, we will train students to become professionals who are proficient in international communication. We will actively promote opportunities for students to do research abroad.
  4. We will train students to become professionals who have a high level of expertise and the ability to organize research as a whole and who can fulfill social needs including those in the industrial world. We will also provide students with an education that will further their ability to discuss scientific matters with laymen.

What We Offer

Our objective is to provide an education to help students understand living phenomena at various levels, ranging from microscopic to macroscopic, from the role of genes to the diversity of ecosystems, in order to train students to become professionals who have a broad knowledge of the biological sciences and advanced reasoning abilities and who can engage in society actively with a clear vision. Therefore, in addition to the group of specialized courses with content continuing on from undergraduate studies, we have established Biology Seminar I and II and Special Biology Recitation I and II as compulsory courses. Biology Seminar I and II cultivate students’ abilities to individually investigate and teach advanced concepts, and Special Biology Recitation I and II cultivate students’ abilities to individually take on and solve requested tasks.
Upon the completion of these courses, students will receive credit for the compulsory special research units.
