Research highlight

I am studying on environmental sex determination using the medaka Oryzias latipes (Fig.1), a teleost fish with an XX/XY sex determination system similar to mammals. I found that heat stress induces masculinization of XX medaka through cortisol elevation and PPARα activation (Fig.2). Future study will focus on roles of cortisol and PPARα in some cultured fish species.
